Elinchrom BXRi heads and Skyport system Receive "Scott Think's It's Hot!" Award
04/29/2009
Scott Kelby, editor and publisher of Photoshop User Magazine, Layers magazine, president of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and the man in charge of Kelby Media Group, has officially declared certain Elinchrom items to be “Hot!”
In his own words, “The 'Scott Thinks It’s Hot!' award is kind of like this blog’s (scottkelby.com) 'Editor's Choice' award or ‘Hot Pick’ award, and will only be awarded to products or services that: (1) I fall hopelessly in love with, and (b) I actually use myself. So, if you see that logo on a product in my blog, it has to be just about perfect (well, to me anyway).”
With standards that high, the “Scott Thinks It’s Hot!” award has only been awarded six times since the blog launched in 2007. Of those six, an impressive two went to Elinchrom for their BXRi compact heads and Skyport Wireless Triggering System.
What made Scott fall in love with Skyport:
- The power of each strobe can be controlled right from the transmitter on top of the camera.
- The modeling lights can be turned on/off the same way as the strobes.
- Combined with the USB key (sold separately), the Skyport will let you control your entire studio from you Mac or PC. The software is free (yes, free!) and will even save the set-up so it can be easily loaded into the strobes next time you shoot. The software’s studio capabilities will “rock your world.”
- The Skyports are more cost effective than other alternatives and since the quality of these Elinchrom products is the best, you are getting superior products for the best value.
Scott and the 500 BXRi:
Scott did a short video review of the 500 BXRi and awarded it his Scott Thinks It’s Hot! Award – the first of 2009. His main reasons for loving this compact head are:
- It has built-in Skyport so you’re shooting wireless right out of the box.
- Fast recycle times and built-in thermally controlled cooling system Short flash duration for sharper shots
- Built-in Skyport supports up to 4 different groups which can be controlled wirelessly from the camera
- Excellent quality and value for a great price.
